This book was published in honor of renowned Egyptologist Mark Lehner. His journey into Egyptology began in 1973 when he came to Cairo as a Year-Abroad Student at the American University in Cairo. In 1976 he joined the Nag Hammadi Expedition. Since then, his fascination with the ancient Egypt led him to pursue a career in Egyptian archaeology and he has participated in different archaeological fieldworks in Egypt, including f.i. Abu Rawash, Tell el-Amarna, Mendes, Deir el-Ballas, Abydos, Saqqara, or Luxor. His dedication to the fieldwork in Giza and its monuments makes his scientific contribution so exceptional. One of his distinctive achievements is his comprehensive mapping of the Gita Plateau. In 1985, together with M. McCauley founded Ancient Egypt Research Associates, Inc. (AERA). Mark Lehner authored severalbooks and numerous scholarly articles. His publication "The Complete Pyramids: Solvig the Ancient Mysteries" is a comprehensive guide to Egypt's pyramids and their historical context. One of Mark's most significant accomplishments is the field school program, launched by AREA in 2005 with the goal of preparing young Egyptian archaeologists to explore their history using scientifical methodologies, explore their history using scientific archaeological methodologies. Mark has also contributed to various documentaries and TV programs. His work is widely respected in the field of Egyptology.
